Atop the Ruins

A brief account of the US invasion of Iraq in 2003 from an Iraqi perspective which throws light on events that led to the war and its consequences.The 2007 book argues that while the United States bear most responsibility for turning Iraq into a ruined state and society, Iraq’s new political elite, sectarian extremist groups, Saddam Hussein’s remnants and Iraq’s neighbors have their share in the destruction of the country.
